Tap Songbook
Our songs are written by our campers, and they tell the story of camp through their eyes. If you are a new camper or a Tap alum, we encourage you to listen and sing along. Please be forgiving to the quality of the recordings, we are over 100 years old, and we try to use original recordings whenever possible.
Tune: Half of My Hometown
Songwriter: Blue 2023: Josie Sirowich (captain), Evie Denbo (co-captain), Norah Pond (songleader)
Summer’s flown by like it always has
Our sand’s run through the hourglass
How can I stop time
Could I just rewind
To each tight embrace that would last for days (hold my)
You hold my hand as the sunlight fades (hand now)
How can I let go
This is all I know
CHORUS:
As I’m saying goodbye
I keep my head held high
Taking one last look
Tears well in my eyes
Blurring all the years I spent
Now I just see a dark road ahead
If I walk away, will this remain
Oh will memories slowly fade
I don’t know how to leave the place where I was raised
It’s time to go
And I don’t know
(Tapawingo)
If you’ll always be my home
When I shut my eyes, I can see the trees
When I listen close, I still hear the breeze
I feel them all around
(All the sisters found)
My heart’s on the hillside, I swallow my fear
What happens if I’m not here year after year
Well soon I’ll know
You’ll be with me as I grow
Friendships drew me
Lessons live through me
All you gave to me
Shapes me now
(As I’m saying goodbye
Keep my head held high
Take one last look
Tears in my eyes
Thanks to all the years I spent)
Now I see a bright light ahead
As I walk ahead, this will remain
And my memories, they won’t fade
I now know how to leave the place where I was raised
It’s time to go
And I know
(Tapawingo)
You’ll always be my home
Our sand’s run through the hourglass
How can I stop time

Tune: Apple Pie
Songwriter: Gray 2023: Naomi Jeske (Captain), Lila Boroujerdi (Co-Captain) and Leya Hecker (Songleader)
Holding tight to this feeling
Cause days like these won’t come my way again
Holding tight, but not believing
That soon I won’t be here with you, my friend
How do I
How do I say goodbye
When you think of me,
Will you think of our summer skies
CHORUS:
As stars appear, I close my eyes, afraid of what I’d see
Afraid that when I open them you won’t be next to me
But I’ll look up at the sky and know wherever you may be
You’re by my side
Right where you’ve been
Where you’ll stay
All my life
Leaving you just won’t feel right
Holding tight to your hand now (ooo)
Cause when daylight comes,
I’ll have to let you go (don’t let go)
Promise when the sun does rise,
you won’t forget the perfect nights we spent under the stars
Moments that we’ve shared
Forever ours
Long after we are gone,
Memories that we’ve made will carry on
CHORUS
Leaving you could never feel right
Cause days like these won’t come my way again
Holding tight, but not believing
That soon I won’t be here with you, my friend
How do I
How do I say goodbye
When you think of me,
Will you think of our summer skies
CHORUS:
As stars appear, I close my eyes, afraid of what I’d see

Tune: My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark
Songwriter: Gray 2023: Naomi Jeske (Captain), Lila Boroujerdi (Co-Captain) and Leya Hecker (Songleader)
Can you feel the storm is coming
Rolling in
Tension grows, now you’re running
Chances slim
Soon, you’ll see that gray team’s on the rise
And nothing you could do will take us down
Lightning strikes, the ground is shaking
This will be fun
Cornered now, there’s no escaping
Do you miss the sun
Hope you’re not scared of the dark
This isn’t for the faint of heart
Get ready, cause the storm has just begun
CHORUS:
Blue team, you have met your downfall
You’re filled with fear
Knowing we’re near
Gray clouds appear
(Try to hide now)
Gray fogs your sight
You’ve lost this fight
Because tonight, blue skies have turned
(Woah)
Woah
Wind picks up, now you’re spinning
Nowhere to go
Hope is lost, it’s finally hitting
Blue’s all alone
Now you see that gray team’s on the rise
And nothing you could do will take us down
CHORUS
Gray
Rolling in
Tension grows, now you’re running
Chances slim
Soon, you’ll see that gray team’s on the rise

Tune: Gasoline / I Can See You
Songwriter: Blue 2023: Josie Sirowich (captain), Evie Denbo (co-captain), Norah Pond (songleader)
Seasick, nauseous with the knowledge that your title has been ripped out from your hands
You know, you don’t a chance
Because our raging waters drag you to the depths
So what will you do(ooo) when no one can hear your cries
What will you do(ooo) when you’re meeting your demise
What will you do when our waves finally (rise)
CHORUS:
Gasp for air but there is not a sound
Our waves come crashing down
All you see is blue around
Reaching up all you want is solid ground
No hope of being found
Gray, beware, you’re gonna drown
(Oh, oh, oh)
Our ocean’s put out your bright flame
(Oh, oh, oh)
This is life or death, not a game
Come on in, the water’s nice
Go ahead, just try it
Let our blue tide wash you away
Just sit back, relax, and keep…quiet
(*Gasp*)
CHORUS
You know, you don’t a chance
Because our raging waters drag you to the depths
So what will you do(ooo) when no one can hear your cries

Tune: Something About the Sunshine
Songwriter: Blue 2023: Josie Sirowich (captain), Evie Denbo (co-captain), Norah Pond (songleader)
Everybody, listen
Seniors need bunk wills so write them today
(Keep it secret)
Tattler is awaiting
Turn ‘em all in or the heads will say
(We’ll do them for you)
This is our opportunity to let the camp in on an inside joke
Like do you remember that one time when our toilet broke
Oh no
Seniors need bunk wills so write them today
(Keep it secret)
Tattler is awaiting
Turn ‘em all in or the heads will say
(We’ll do them for you)
This is our opportunity to let the camp in on an inside joke
Like do you remember that one time when our toilet broke
Oh no
